The Linda Mwananchi Movement has named Pauline Njoroge as interim head of communication in its Presidential Campaign Secretariat, its first appointments as Nairobi senator Edwin Sifuna builds a campaign for the 2027 General Election.
Njoroge was named in a statement on Tuesday 13 October, a day after the movement's leadership met to review its rebranding and the setting up of the secretariat. Fredah Onduso, Abigael Gikonyo and Charity Waweru were appointed to the Digital, Media and Publicity Team, which sits under the Communication Department.
"The leadership agreed on the appointments as part of the ongoing process of structuring the movement and its Presidential Campaign Secretariat."
The movement said Njoroge brings "a wealth of experience in political and strategic communication, having previously worked on presidential campaigns, and with various governmental institutions and intergovernmental organisations".
She left Jubilee in July after 14 years
Njoroge resigned from the Jubilee Party on 21 July as its deputy organising secretary and a member of its National Executive Committee, saying she wanted to concentrate on the Linda Mwananchi Movement.
“Edwin Sifuna's movement appointed Pauline Njoroge to the interim role and named three others to its Digital, Media and Publicity Team.”
She entered party work in 2012 as communications manager at The National Alliance, which merged with the United Republican Party to form Jubilee. She also worked on Raila Odinga's campaign for the African Union Commission chairpersonship.
More appointments are coming
The statement said further appointments would be announced in due course.
Sifuna, the Nairobi senator and former ODM secretary-general, unveiled The Equitable Party (TEP) on 4 October as the vehicle for his presidential bid and plans to rebrand it as the Linda Mwananchi Movement. The Registrar of Political Parties has since approved changes to the party's officials.
He has said the party will open talks with like-minded opposition groups on fielding a single challenger in 2027.
