The internationally recognized storytelling platform The Moth has returned to Nairobi for its seventh consecutive year, bringing a lineup of local storytellers to present raw, unscripted personal journeys.

The event, hosted at a creative arts space in the capital, provides an intimate stage for ordinary citizens, writers, and performance artists to share pivotal life experiences without notes or scripts.

Celebrating Authentic Narratives

"Storytelling is deeply embedded in East African tradition. The Moth offers a space where personal human stories create real connection and empathy across diverse audiences," said one of the event curators.

The focus of this year's gathering includes:

  • Theme Exploration: True stories framed around themes of identity, transition, and personal resilience.

  • Creative Mentorship: Workshops conducted ahead of the main stage show to help community storytellers refine their delivery.

“The acclaimed global live storytelling show returns to the capital, showcasing true personal narratives from Kenyan writers, artists, and performers.”

  • Audio Archiving: Selected performances will be featured on international podcast networks.

    1. Nairobi Creative Scene: The event highlights Nairobi's expanding footprint as a regional hub for live performance arts.

    2. Community Building: Interactive open-mic segments allow audience members to participate in shorter storytelling rounds.
